Hello, I'm Oliver
I am a project manager. A parent. An expat living in Zurich, Switzerland.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually grew into a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Switzerland wasn't part of our long-range plan. Like many international assignments, it kicked off as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much larger.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Routine tasks felt more complicated than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was cultural shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. Yet gradually, routines settled in. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built ValeEmberRelay
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or surface tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday, family viewpoint.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Switzerland.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Switzerland
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Switzerland continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Zurich or anywhere in Switzerland, please feel free to contact me.
Cheers,
Oliver
